Mr. Doug Wielard
I grew up in Denver, CO and Pella, IA. I met my wife Sue while attending Dordt College. Sue and I moved to Chicago’s western suburbs shortly after college and now reside in Lisle. We have been blessed with three children: Ross and Clay, both graduates of Timothy Christian High School, and Krista, a tenth grader at Timothy. We are thankful for the excellent Christian education that Timothy has provided for our children. Timothy provides a wonderful Christian community and it has been a blessing to become involved in this community.
Having been privileged to attend Christian schools throughout my life, I believe that a Christian education is important to help one see and understand God’s hand in all aspects of his creation. This can help our children to truly appreciate the power of God, the blessings he has given to us, and the responsibilities that go along with these things. With that foundation, our children can grow into effective Christian disciples.
I have a degree in Management Information Systems from Dordt College, and a graduate degree in Computer Science from North Central College. I worked at AT&T Bell Laboratories for 9 years. I am currently a Senior Vice President, Information Technology Executive at Bank of America. As a member of Wheaton CRC I have served as Deacon, Treasurer and chair of the Christian Education Committee.
I feel the lessons and experiences of my career have taught me how to lead and manage an effective organization and to work with diverse groups of people. I believe I can draw on these and other life experiences to contribute to the board’s mission. I see serving on the board as one way I can contribute to fulfilling our biblical call to provide for the children’s instruction in the faith.
Our responsibility as board members is to insure that the school’s leaders, teachers and curriculum fulfill the purposes laid out in Timothy’s mission statement. To fulfill this mission we must provide an environment where Christian love and living are demonstrated and children are supported and encouraged to grow and develop as Christian disciples.
