“I am very grateful for the opportunity we had to host an International student. It was a very enriching experience for our family. We welcomed Jisu Kim in the fall of 2005. She immediately became a part of our family! It was so much fun to share simple American traditions like pumpkin carving, Thanksgiving and cutting down our Christmas tree!
I didn’t find hosting to be extra work because her desire was to join a typical American family in their normal daily life.
After graduating from Timothy H.S. Jisu attended Elmhurst College and continues to be my “Korean daughter”. This May she will graduate from college and move back to Korea. It will be bitter sweet to see her move on into the next season of her life.
I’m so glad that with the WV program more Timothy families can take advantage of this opportunity. It is amazing to meet these precious members of God’s family from around the globe. We have an opportunity to discover what we have in common and to appreciate our diversity.
If anyone is thinking that God may be putting this on their heart, I would whole heartedly tell them to find out more! You will have a great experience!”
