Cross Country - Fall 2007
10/27 - Cross Country Sectionals - Katie Dirkse heads to State!
On Saturday at the Niles West IHSA Sectional both the Timothy girls team and the boys individual qualifiers ran very well! The girls team finished 9th in the twenty team field. The girls were paced by state qualifier Katie Dirkse (23rd in 19:55). Katie was followed closely by Leah Bosman (35th in 20:12), Kristin VanKampen (46th in 20:37), Natalie Kuick (57th in 21:05), Samantha Goedeke (64th in 21:27), Anna Boot (87th in 22:09) and Candace Wieringa (89th in 22:11).
In the boys race, sophomore Jeff VanderKamp (56th in 17:21) and junior Bruce Larkin (73rd in 17:35) ran extremely well to cap off exceptional inaugural seasons.
Katie garnered the 7th individual qualifying spot and will represent Timothy in the IHSA class 2A state championship race this Saturday (November 3) at 11:00 in Peoria.
Congratulations on a very good season and a special thanks to our seniors Mark Zylstra, Kristin VanKampen, Anna Boot and Candace Wieringa. You are the greatest!
10/20 - Cross Country Regional week results
Congratulations to Jeff VanderKamp, Bruce Larkin and the Girls cross country team (Katie Dirkse, Leah Bosman, Samantha Goedeke, Kristin VanKampen, Natalie Kuick, Candace Wieringa, and Anna Boot) for qualifying for this weeks sectional race! Jeff and Bruce earned two of the 5 individual qualifying spots and the girls finished an impressive third to garner one of the 5 team spots.
10/13 - PSL Championship - Girls' - 4th Place, Boys': 6th Place
Congratulations to the TC Cross Country for their performance at the PSL Championship. Katie Dirkse was named PSL All-Conference. Great job to the entire team and Coach Dick Zylstra!

9/29 - Mane Event at Lisle High School
On Saturday the teams again were a bit short-handed but ran very well at the 41 school Mane Event at Lisle High School. The girls finished 10th and the boys 19th. Timothy continues to get solid and consistently good efforts from veterans Leah Bosman and Kristin VanKampen on the girls side and Mark Zylstra on the boys side. Second year runners Natalie Kuick and Andrew Munson and first year runners Jeff VanderKamp, Bruce Larkin, Justin Loerop, Chris Biesboer and Candace Wieringa continue to make great improvement and significant contributions to the success of the team. Third year runners Kei Loerop and Jon Denny continue to make important contributions to the team’s success as well. Jon’s contribution to the team is especially rewarding because it comes after serious knee surgery last spring. Senior Anna Boot battled through a hip injury and ran a very gutsy race for us on Saturday.
9/25 - PSL Flighted meet at Schiller Woods
The short-handed girls (injuries to Samantha Goedeke, Anna Boot, and Julie Schram) battled to a 4th place finish behind strong performances from Katie Dirkse, Leah Bosman, Kristin VanKampen, Natalie Kuick, and Candace Wieringa. The boys also ran very solidly and finished in 6th place.
9/8/07 - Michigan Christian School Invite
After a three year absence it was great to be able to run again in the Christian School Invite at Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Both teams ran very well over the 5K course. The girls were led again by Katie Dirkse and Leah Bosman and the boys by Jeff VanderKamp and Mark Zylstra. Jon Denny and Justin Loerop had breakout performances for the guys team and Natalie Kuick continues to show great improvement on the girls side.
9/11/07 - PSL Relay
Timothy hosted the 8th annual PSL Relays on Tuesday at Eldridge Park. In blustery conditions the Trojans continued to run very well as we finished 3rd on the girls side and 6th on the boys. In a thrilling race, the two runner team of Leah Bosman and Katie Dirkse edged out Wheaton Academy’s top team to win the individual honors.
Cross Country August 27 to September 1:
Both boys and girls cross country teams got off to a good start this week.
On Tuesday we ran at Westmont High School. The girls took second and the boys third. Both veterans and newcomers ran well. Katie Dirkse finished 4th, Leah Bosman 5th, Kristin VanKampen 7th , Anna Boot 8th, Candace Wierenga 15th, Natalie Kuick 16th, and Julie Schram 21st. On the boys side Jeff VanderKamp and Mark Zylstra finished 9and 10, Bruce Larkin and Jon Denny finished 21 and 23, Justin and Kei Loerop finished 27 and 29, and Andrew Munson and Chris Biesboer finished 43 and 52.
On Saturday both teams ran at the 27 school Fenton Early Bird Meet. The girls finished 14th and the boys 12th. The five runners scoring for the girls were Leah Bosman, Kristin VanKampen, Anna Boot, Candace Wierenga, and Natalie Kuick. The five runners scoring for the boys were Ryan Hoff, Josh Helmgren, Jeff VanderKamp, Mark Zylstra, and Bruce Larkin.
