Mrs. Kathie Zigterman

Personal Profile

I live in Western Springs with my husband, Kent.  Our three children, now in their 20’s, are all Timothy graduates.  I am a Chicago (Roseland) native, but have lived in Canada and Switzerland, as well as in various places in Chicagoland.  I have a strong commitment to use my talents to serve God and His people.  I love working in the elementary library at Timothy Christian Schools, in the dual role of library teacher for the primary grades, and library technical assistant.  My hobbies include reading (of course!), doing puzzles of all sorts, and cheering for my favorite sports teams – Go TC, and Go Sox!

Professional Profile

After graduating from Trinity Christian College in 1973, my first teaching assignment was teaching Grades 1-4 in a two room Christian school in Cambridge, Ontario.  I remained there for two more years teaching a Grade 1 and 2 split classroom. The following year I taught first grade in Willowdale, Ontario, and then returned to the States to teach for four more years in the primary grades at Chicago Southwest Christian School. Following an absence from teaching to raise my three children, I returned in 1992, working in the Timothy grade school library with the kindergarten through third grades, sharing literature and teaching library skills to 13 classes each week, and managing the various library programs.

Philosophical Profile

Only in Christian education are students, parents and staff working toward the common goal of glorifying and serving God through learning.  This common purpose brings unity and meaning to education.  As a teacher, my goal is to provide students with the knowledge and learning tools to enable them to serve the Lord as disciples and stewards of His creation, honoring God by developing and using their God-given talents and abilities. I can be a Christian witness and role model to my students and help them to develop Christian attitudes toward God and His creation, and to live in right relationships with their fellow man.
