Elementary (1st-5th)

KNown by Name, Challenged to grow. Ready for what's next.

At Timothy Christian Schools, every elementary student is deeply known—and intentionally taught. Education is not a one-size-fits-all. Instead, we build confident learners through small group instruction and a team of educators partnering to help every child grow—academically, emotionally, and spiritually.
Our classrooms are carefully structured to meet each student where they are academically—and help them take their next step.

You’re Probably Wondering: “How will you make sure my child doesn’t fall behind—or get bored if they’re ahead?”

We hear this from parents all the time. That’s why we use a personalized, research-based approach called MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Support). It’s how we teach—every student, every day.

How We Teach—and Why It Works

At Timothy, support isn’t reactive—it’s proactive. Every classroom is built around real-time, personalized instruction designed to help students grow at their own pace.

  • Teachers differentiate instruction daily across subjects

  • Every student is benchmarked 3x per year with MAP Growth and aimswebPlus

  • Progress is monitored monthly, bi-weekly, or even weekly

  • Data Teams—including the Director of Teaching & Learning and Director of Student Support—meet after each benchmark

  • Students are placed into small groups for targeted instruction, intervention, enrichment, or acceleration

You might hear your child talk about “Tier Time”—and that’s a good thing. What is Tier Time?

Tier Time
Every student receives targeted instruction in flexible groups without missing any core instruction three times a week. Tier Time groups for reading are provided to all our students in kindergarten through 8th grade, and for math in 1st through 6th grades. Advanced learners are provided with challenging instruction through a differentiated classroom approach, opportunities for extension during our MTSS groups, and the possibility of acceleration for students who would benefit. Everyone is working on what they need next.

Core Instruction
Our classroom teachers routinely monitor students’ responses to instruction and respond by providing opportunities during class for differentiated instruction and activities. This process is built into the way we instruct across subjects every day. This is the heart of support at our first “tier,” but to increase the power of our instruction, we offer other customized opportunities beyond the core.

Screening
We screen every student three times a year, and we provide individual monitoring monthly, bi-weekly, or even weekly,  depending on the student's needs.

Data Review
After each student is screened, teachers, aides, the Director of Student Support, and the Director of Teaching and Learning meet to review each student's performance as well as a variety of classroom assessments. These teams of teachers make data-driven decisions about each student's learning needs. We then place each student in a small group to provide just-right instruction, whether that is intervention, additional practice, enrichment, or extension.

“We don’t just teach reading and math—we teach resilience, progress, and possibility.”
— Kris Wise, Director of Teaching & Learning

aimswebPlus offers nationally-normed, skills-based benchmark assessments and progress monitoring integrated into one application across reading and math domains. aimswebPlus informs daily instruction and provides growth results in reading and math achievement using curriculum-based assessment and standards-aligned content for students.

MAP Growth Test by NWEA is an with an accurate, efficient, and effective universal screener. MAP testing allows our team to see student achievement for any test event and measure growth over time, compare results to similar students across the nation, and project proficiency for year-end summative tests.

Spotlight: Matteo's Story

When Matteo entered first grade, he was in the red tier for early literacy—and struggling with confidence. But with individualized small-group support focused on phonics and fluency, Matteo made huge strides.

By spring, he had jumped two tiers and was reading confidently in the green group. When he nailed the word chimpanzee during class, his classmates erupted in cheers.

That’s what happens when kids are met where they are—and taught in a way that works for them.

Our students consistently exceed national norms—because their learning is customized, reviewed often, and supported by a full instructional team.

Everything is Taught Through a Biblical Worldview

  • At Timothy, faith isn’t just an add-on—it’s the foundation. Every subject reflects a Biblical worldview. We help students discover their identity in Christ, learn how to apply truth, and grow in compassion and character.
  • Daily Bible classes, weekly chapel, and prayer are part of the rhythm of every classroom.
