Middle School

Future Leaders Start Here

Middle school can be one of the most transformative seasons in your child’s life. Let’s make it a launchpad.

Middle school students need more than a strong curriculum. They need wise mentorship, real responsibility, and a place where they are known and supported. At Timothy, students are:

  • Equipped to lead with courage and confidence

  • Challenged academically and spiritually

  • Known personally and guided with care

We meet students where they are—and take them further. Whether they need support or acceleration, our team of dedicated teachers supports every learner intentionally.

Personalized Learning in Action

Core Instruction That Adapts
Teachers continuously monitor student progress and adjust instruction in real time, and are trained to identify the need for differentiated learning. Whether your child needs enrichment, practice, or support, that flexibility is built into our daily model.

Targeted Support Through Homebase
Three times per week, all middle school students participate in Homebase—a flexible instructional period focused on individualized support:

  • Small-group time for extra help, practice, or enrichment

  • Teacher-recommended or student-initiated participation

  • Groups shift based on data, assessments, and student needs

Executive Functioning: Skills That Stick
Every middle school student is taught foundational executive functioning skills—planning, prioritizing, focusing, and following through. Additional coaching and support are available in small groups through Homebase and Guided Study.

Multiple Course Pathways

  • Co-taught classes with classroom and support specialists
  • Multiple math pathways based on pace and content
  • Access to high school-level coursework for advanced students

Guided Study
Our Guided Study class offers:

  • Daily intervention in executive functioning, reading, writing, and math

  • Homework Coaching

  • Small Group Instruction

aimswebPlus offers nationally-normed, skills-based benchmark assessments and progress monitoring integrated into one application across reading and math domains. aimswebPlus informs daily instruction and provides growth results in reading and math achievement using curriculum-based assessment and standards-aligned content for students.

Spotlight: Robotics Team Competes at Worlds

Ranked Top 5 in Illinois, our middle school Robotics Team competed on the global stage at the VEX Robotics World Championship. Through coding, troubleshooting, and teamwork, students built more than a robot—they built confidence and resilience under pressure.

"It was amazing to see how far we came as a team. We learned how to lead under pressure."

6th Grade: A Confident Start

Sixth grade at Timothy is a big step—and we’ve created a nurturing environment specifically for 6th graders. Students have a dedicated hallway to help them build community and confidence as they begin their middle school journey.

  • Dedicated 6th-grade hallway and faculty

  • Strong foundations in Bible, reading, writing, math, and science

  • Daily devotions, prayer, and weekly chapel

  • Leadership opportunities: flag duty, chapel buddies, classroom helpers

  • Executive functioning and organizational skills development

  • Elective opportunities

7th Grade: A Year of Discovery

In seventh grade, students grow in independence and responsibility. They move into the full middle school space (aka the WAC), explore new electives, and begin to take on greater ownership of their learning and leadership.

  • Electives like Mock Trial, Business Management, Engineering, and more

  • Faith in action through Kindness Crew and service opportunities

  • Leadership roles in athletics, the arts, chapel teams, and peer mentorship

  • Continued development of executive functioning and time management

8th Grade: Ready for What’s Next

Eighth grade is designed as a launch year—academically and personally. Students take on more advanced coursework, prepare for high school, and gain independence through real-world learning and leadership.

  • Opportunity for high school credit in math, science, and English

  • Project-based learning that emphasizes collaboration, communication, and resilience

  • Washington, D.C. Class Trip
