On Saturday, March 18, 32 TCS 4th-6th grade singers along with Ms. DeJager joined the Anima – Glen Ellyn Children’s Choir Singfest held at Elmhurst Christian Reformed Church. Nominated singers prepared 2 selections ahead of time: Stand Together by Jim Papoulis and Wild Wind by Stacy Gallop.
Mr. Papoulis is a renown composer based in New York City. He composes, orchestrates and conducts music for dance, film, ensembles and choirs. He has worked with such artists as: The Paris Opera, Celine Dion, Tony Bennett, Christina Aguilara, and Faith Hill just to name a few. He guided our students not only through his beautiful music, but also helped them compose a song which he will record in his New York based studio and share with participating students through their teachers.
Stacy Gallop is a new composer from Chicago and students got to premier her piece for SSAA Choir, called Wild Wind. Teachers were treated to a 2 hour workshop with him, as well. Audition participation along with the singers recreated the element of wind for a truly beautiful first performance.
As a treat, the Christian Yale A Cappella group: Living Water also performed part of their tour set. It was truly a time of singing from the heart, sharing and thinking and creating.
TCS students who participated were: Rachel Abraham, Jake Armstrong, Alexa Auriemma, Alex Becker (Anima Children’s Chorus Member), Ethan Becvar, Trevor Burns, Clarissa Chen, Camille Cobo, Maggie Crichton, Daniel Cruz, Leah Hoffman, Hannah Hoffman, Elissa Horner, Tommy Kunz, Sarah Loerop, Eloise Nelson, Taylor Parker, Emmy Rhoads, Maggie Rhoads, Jaden Royal, Norah Rudman, Haley Salisipan, Amanda Schnurr, Sophia Schuringa, Ashley Sikkenga, Fenna Tameling, Emily Turner, Avery Van Prooyen, Ellie Vega, Chloe Wiegers, Lauren Wiegers, Jordan Wilson.
