Our Cheerleaders finished their competition season this past Saturday at State Finals. After loading the bus and traveling over 100 miles away, our high school cheerleaders arrived at the IHSA State competition on Thursday. They were welcomed into Bloomington, Illinois by supportive parents and friends who had decorated the halls with cheer “head” signs, streamers, balloons, quotes, and Bible verses to get pumped up.
Even after months of practice, nearly 6 days a week, 2-3 hours a day, the team still managed to squeeze another run-through before day 1. Following this, devotions were held, praising God for his goodness in giving these talents to each teammate and for safety doing what can be one of the most dangerous sports.
The day 1 performance squeaked the team into the finals at tenth place. With four fulls and the most advanced entries into stunts, the team was itching to get another opportunity to take the floor again and show the judges their true potential. Day 2 was that very opportunity. The team was able to release nerves and truly put on a show. Flyers held body positions tight, and the stunt groups remained a solid foundation. The dance was entertaining, and the joy seeped into the stadium! They finished 8th in State in the Small Team division. TC Cheer has an impressive history, qualifying for State 10 out of the past 11 years.
