Our Mascot – Troy
The Timothy Christian Schools mascot has been a Trojan since first appearing in the '50's. Known as Troy, our mascot appears at select sporting events, open houses, and is often featured on social media. Troy has a unique (and somewhat comical) relationship with Timothy's superintendent, Matt Davidson.
Now this is a story all about how
My life got flipped, turned upside down.
So give me a minute, listen to me
And read about how I became the mascot of TC.
In the suburbs of Toronto born and raised,
on the playground is where I spent most of my days.
Shooting some b-ball outside of the school,
Then one day my parents said: “You need a job to be cool!”
So I started looking for a place for a guy like me.
Looked real hard, but there was nothing I could see.
I was the saddest Trojan in the Rouge River Valley,
Til I remembered a shoe repair shop right down the alley.
So I went and was hired! I cobbled lots of shoes,
Repaired oxfords and wingtips til my fingers turned blue
But my sword was getting rusty and shield was dusty,
Finding a new scene was feeling like a musty.
So I rolled my wooden horse through and over dunes of the Great Lakes —
(That’s a long trip for goodness sakes!)
Just when my search had left me perturbed,
I found the best school in Chicago’s western ’burbs!
Some guy named Davidson needed a hero,
But up until then his results were zero.
When I met Matt, saw the school and the WAC,
I knew right away I was never going back!
To be clear: the first game, felt brave I did not,
But every mascot knows, you’ve gotta give it a shot.
But I got the crowd to their feet to cheer their team on
And in the end, they sang TC’s victory song.
Now me and TC, we’ve got a strong bond,
I’ve got faith that together, we’ll for sure Go Beyond.
So thanks for your time, I hope you now see,
My name is Troy the Trojan, and I belong at Timothy.
