Arboretum
Timothy's Campus is a Nationally Recognized Arboretum
Over 60 varieties of trees are on our 24-acre campus, including a row of Osage Orange trees that predate 1960, when the property was still a mushroom farm. Mr. John Harkema, a former high school teacher, has planted most of the trees over the past 50 years. Timothy is the first preschool-12th grade school in Illinois, and only the fifth preschool-12 grade school in the nation, to be recognized as an arboretum.
Timothy Earns Tree Campus Distinction from Arbor Day Foundation |

In fact, Timothy's 24-acre campus in now an official Tree Campus School, recognized by the Arbor Day Foundation. This is similar to cities that are accredited as official Tree Towns USA. This is the first year that the foundation has established the program for schools. Timothy is one of 3 private schools in the nation with this designation.
