Support For The Win! Now

STATE! STATE! STATE! I can still hear the Red Zone chanting last spring as our girls soccer team advanced to State (2nd) and then the same outcome for our baseball team – a trip to State (2nd)! Both teams boasted their best finish in school history. And then this fall when our boys soccer team followed suit and advanced to State (4th) along with our girls tennis team (3rd) — also the best finish in program history! Not only that, but our track teams have earned legendary status for multiple performances at the State level over the years. In general, keep an eye on all of our outdoor sports. Get your popcorn ready, folks, because we’re on the move!

Of course, our athletic field is not only used for sports, but it’s also a place where our community gathers. This fall we welcomed over 1200 people from the Timothy community to Friday Night Lights. And last spring we hosted Homecoming there with a petting zoo, obstacle course, and fireworks! (And who can forget the food!) So our field is not only a place for athletic training, but a place for the entire Timothy community to connect. So that’s why I’m excited to share our next project For the Win! One Team, One Goal — One Student at a Time.

For the Win! impacts every single student. The project includes a newly constructed soccer and track stadium and new tennis courts! Plus Trojan Lane that will open up ingress/egress to Euclid and Harvard to our east, which will help ease congestion at pick up and drop off. Keep reading to learn more.

1000 Seats for Trojan Fans!

For the Win! is not just a “fresh coat of paint” or even a renovation…this is a complete do-over – to the tune of $7,000,000.00! Artificial turf, lighting, sound, press box, tennis courts, 8 lane track, concession stand, entrance, signage, etc. This new stadium will seat nearly 1,000 fans to cheer on the Trojans! We’ll get to work this summer and have the stadium open for business in August 2022.

Training Ground: The True Prize

We like winning around here — especially State trophies (check out the trophy case in The WAC). But as followers of Christ, those trophies aren’t the true prize. Not even close. The true prize is how our coaches use athletics as a training ground for life – to build champions for Christ. Our coaches teach much more than the fundamentals and strategies of their sport. We are leadership-minded. We believe that competition presents challenges similar to those that every person might one day face throughout life. Although these challenges may be on a smaller scale, the ways in which we overcome them and the lessons that we learn from them are the same. Timothy Christian’s excellence-driven athletic program is dedicated to developing character and integrity through sports. We strive to promote working together in oneness, to conquer fears, to overcome obstacles, to look for lessons and motivation in loss and for humility and opportunity in victory. We strive for the win!

Trojan Lane

For the Win! also includes some infrastructure improvements for our campus. You might remember that we purchased a residence directly to the east of our tennis courts last year with the intent to alleviate traffic congestion. (I’m not sure if you’ve noticed, but it gets busy around here for the AM and PM commutes.) So we are building Trojan Lane that will open up ingress/egress to Euclid and Harvard to our east. We’re analyzing a formal traffic study to determine the best flow for the morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up. The lane will be closed by gates at all other times. Additionally, we are working on a partnership to install another parking lot near campus. Stay tuned for more details.

Thank you for Supporting Christ-centered Education

We’ve raised nearly $50,000,000.00 (that’s 50 million!) for our school in the last 12 years…and we’ve put that money to good use! We’ve added real estate acreage to our footprint in Elmhurst, we’ve added buildings and additions, we’ve witnessed extraordinary renovations, and we’ve significantly strengthened all of our programs – curricular, co-curricular, and extracurricular. There are scores of small-to-mid range projects we’ve accomplished together as well. Remarkably we’ve done all of this without debt! And all the while we’ve remained immovably committed to our mission as a Christian school and remain Biblically-rooted in all we do. We stand in love on the truth and the promises of God’s Word.

Join Us: For the Win!

I’m really counting on the Timothy community to get our fundraising goal of For the Win! to the finish line. Our school is 110 years old. There are inspirational and heroic stories about each generation and graduating class of our school, but I happen to believe that our story will be remembered above them all. We’ve journeyed together through a lot, dear brothers and sisters. We’ve endured…and we’ve thrived! To reach our fundraising goal, we will be  inviting 100% of our amazing community to participate. Whether your commitment is just a few dollars or a large legacy gift, there’s something “magical” about every family locking arms as part of Team Timothy for this common goal. We are exploring creative ways to recognize everyone who gives toward the goal to memorialize this community wide effort. May the generations that follow us see all of our fingerprints on this initiative as one team. If you’d like to discuss your involvement with me directly, I’d welcome the opportunity. I truly would. Please join me in prayer for another successful project here at Timothy Christian Schools — our school. For the Win! is more than a new stadium — it’s a training ground for our athletes to win at life — all for the glory of God.

Press on, Timothy.
