ELEMENTARY SCHOOL & MIDDLE SCHOOL EXTRACURRICULAR & CLUBS
Do you enjoy being creative and connecting to God’s Word? Then this club is for you! Come each week to study scripture and create art in your own journaling Bible.
Who: 3rd – 6th graders – Maximum 20 Students
When: Tuesday afternoons from 3:10-4:15 PM, January 29, February 5, February 12, February 19, February 26, March 5, March 12, March 19
Where: Mrs. Ridlen’s classroom (Room 411)
Cost: $80.00 (includes cost of a new journaling bible)
Led by: Mrs. Ridlen, 3rd grade teacher
Chess Club is at full capacity for the 2018-2019 year.

Who: K-8th graders – Maximum 60 students
When: Thursday afternoons, 3:10-4:30 pm, October 4-March 21
Where: ES Library
Led by Mr. Groenewold, 3rd grade teacher
We will begin our meetings with prayer, followed by a mini-lesson. After that, students will have the opportunity to play games of chess against other students in the club and spend some time on an individualized chess program. More information about the program will go home within the first couple weeks of Chess Club.
We are planning on meeting on the following Thursdays:
November- 1, 15
December- 6, 13, 20
January- 10, 17, 24, 31
February- 7, 14, 21, 28
March- 7, 14, 21
Chess club will cost $40 this year. Please make your payments at the office.
Throughout the year, students will have the opportunity to take part in some chess tournaments. Tournaments are completely optional. We will announce more information about them at chess club as well as email them out. Gaming Club, Middle School
Gaming fun and good fellowship with each other! We play computer games, Wii, Xbox, and a classic arcade game console.
When: Wednesday afternoons from 3:15-4:30 PM, begins September 19, 2018
Where: HS Learning Commons Lab
Led by: Mr. Ridder
Robotics, Elementary School
Students will work in teams to design and build a robot and compete in local team tournaments. VEX IQ offers a robot building experience with snap together pieces to enhance students’ knowledge of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) at an age-appropriate level. Students will gain skills in teamwork, leadership and problem solving.
Who: 4th – 6th graders – Maximum 32 Students
When: Tuesday afternoons from 3:10-4:15 PM, October 9 – mid-winter, depending on competition dates
Led by: Mrs. Frens, Mr. Scholma, Mrs. Brouwer
VEX Middle School
VEX IQ offers a robot building experience with snap together pieces to enhance students‘ knowledge of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) at an age–appropriate level. Students will be placed on a team. They will design and build a robot to compete in competitions.

Who: 7th – 8th graders – Maximum 15 Students
When: Monday afternoons from 3:10-4:15 PM, starting October 8 thru mid-winter, depending on tournaments.
Where: Mrs. Meyer’s (MS Room 104)
Led by: Miss Wieringa
Includes writing and publishing a Young Author’s story, writing activities, and games!
Who: 3rd – 6th graders – Maximum 25 Students
When: Wednesday afternoons from 3:10-4:15 PM, February 6, February 13, February 20, February 27, March 6, March 13 and March 20.
