Grandparents DaY — May 5, 2017
Grandparents Day is coming soon and we need your help. We hope the following FAQs will inform you about the day and help you, help us make this a memorable day.
When is Grandparents Day? Friday, May 5, 2017
What is Grandparents Day? Grandparents’ day is a special day where Timothy students invite their grandparents, or a surrogate grandparent, to experience their grandchild’s school with their grandchild. The day includes a morning program put on by the students, family time in the students classroom where the generations can work on projects together, coffee and cookies and an optional complimentary luncheon for our guests.
How will Grandparents be invited? Your child will come home with their handmade invitations. Please send or give them to their Grandparents ASAP.
How can I register my children’s grandparents? Fill out the online Grandparents Day registration form below or complete Grandparents Day information sheet and send it back to school with your child.
What if my children’s Grandparents cannot attend? Children may “adopt” Grandparents for the day. In the past, children have been blessed by the presence of an adult neighbor(s) or friend(s) from church who can fill the void of an absent Grandparent. Remember that Auditorium seating is for Grandparents only or the Grandparent designate. For out-of-town Grandparents the program can be viewed livestream via “The Cube.” The “Overflow” seating area will also have large screen viewing available.
Who may attend the free lunch? All pre-registered Grandparents! When finished visiting their grandchildren’s classrooms, pre-registered Grandparents will take a shuttle back to Elmhurst Christian Reformed church and enjoy a Corner Bakery sandwich lunch at their leisure.
Where should Grandparents park? All parking for our Grandparents will be at our neighbor Elmhurst Christian Reformed Church’s campus with free shuttle service to and from Timothy’s campus. Timothy’s buses and mini-buses as well as a wheelchair-friendly bus, will provide hassle-free, door-to-door service.
What time does the program start and where do we go? Registration starts at 8:40 AM in the auditorium lobby and the program begins at 9:00 AM in the Huizenga Auditorium in the high school.
