The high school choirs at Timothy have been very busy this fall! In addition to preparing for fall and Christmas concerts, Chamber Singers and Concert Chorale have had a few opportunities to improve their performance with other collegiate level conductors, learn from other high schools’ performances, and build community through fun trips.

On October 13-14, Chamber Singers traveled to Augustana College for the annual Chamber Choir Festival. They learned two Christmas pieces with other area school chamber choirs, worked with Dr. Zemek on their own repertoire, performed, and participated in a vocal workshop with Augustana students and staff.

Last Thursday, Chorale traveled to Carthage College. While enjoying the beautiful (and snowy!) campus on Lake Michigan, they worked with Dr. Peter Dennee on current and Christmas repertoire, bonded over lunch in the cafeteria, and performed for the other area schools who participated in the Lakeside Choral Festival. Here is the link for the livestream concert (It is the video that is around 57:00 long). Chorale performs at around 38:00. youtube.com/channel/UC3bFNk6By0xS_2nBYeCi6dA

Next, Chorale will participate in the Metro Suburban Conference Festival at Aurora Christian on November 14 with other conference schools. They will work under the direction of Dr. Brad Holmes from Millikin University.

We are thankful for these opportunities to learn, perform, and grow as a choral community!
