They started the Lisle Christmas Tournament as the seventh seed. They finished as champions! The Timothy Christian Girls’ Varsity Basketball team won the annual Lisle Christmas Tournament. The Lady Trojans were in a difficult bracket that included the number 2 and 3 seeds. In the first game the Lady Trojans defeated Wheaton St. Francis 54-51 on a late 3 point basket by Sureya Alex. They then defeated number 2 seed, The Latin School of Chicago, 63-52 with a balanced scoring attack that included 4 players in double figures. Hannah Schuringa had 14, Sureya Alex 13, Grace Roland, 11 and Sarah Carstensen 10. Timothy played Walther Christian Academy for the second time in 8 days in the semi-final game and defeated Walther, 45-35. The Lady Trojans were stifling on defense holding Walther to only 20% shooting for the game. In the final, Timothy played fifth seeded Rosary, winning 61-37. Hannah Schuringa led the scoring with 25 points and Maddie Drye added 12. Hannah Schruinga was named to the All Tournament Team and the Tournament’s Most Valuable Player. The Lady Trojans have improved steadily since early in the season and currently have won 11 of their last 12 games.
