I first stepped foot on Timothy’s campus a decade ago. I was a young mom with a preschool age son. My husband and I looked at many different preschool options. But the eternal ramifications made us choose Timothy Christian Schools.
Today that little boy is starting his freshman year at Timothy and I have two more children in the elementary school.
I have no doubt the investment has been worth it.
I see my children connecting and owning their faith. Everything they learn and experience—whether in the classroom, soccer field, basketball court or on the playground—is filtered and colored through the lens of faith. They have been taught and nurtured at Timothy since they were just three years old. My children are disciples in the making, and their teachers are truly committed to this mission.
I so believe in the mission of Timothy, I jumped at the chance to be part of the Story Team and start writing for the new Timothy blog last January. We want this blog to be a special place. A place where #ourtimothystory is told. Stories of students claiming the Gospel as their own. Stories of alumni who are transforming our world. Stories of teachers and coaches who are called to pour life-changing truths into our children every single day. It’s my prayer that these stories are shared so even more families can come to experience this community—this school we call home.
The Story Team is a mobile bunch. Cindy VanKampen, who is already a familiar face at Timothy, will continue managing our new website, TCSNews, and shooting photos. Maddie Schaafsma, who is a senior and aspires to a career in broadcast journalism, will also be a regular contributor and photographer on the blog. Dan Quist, Director of Admissions, and Jay Evenhouse, Director of Alumni Relations, will lend creative input. You’ll also get to hear from Matt Davidson, our superintendent, through his new monthly column, Win at Life. And I hope we have many other guest writers and photographers along the way.
You’ll often see us out and about photographing or interviewing students. Whether we’re hauling around strobe lights or pecking away on our laptops, we are on a mission to tell Timothy’s story on the blog, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. If you haven’t liked us on social media, do it now so you don’t miss out on anything that’s happening on campus. You can also lend your voice to the Timothy story by tagging us on social media and sharing all our posts.
Timothy is a transformational place. I’ve seen it. I’ve heard it. I’ve experienced it.
Just walk through the hallway on any given day and you’ll see teachers actively engaging and encouraging our children. Peek in a classroom, just for a moment, and you’ll witness the love and passion teachers at Timothy have for our kids. I’ve talked to students—from preschool to graduating seniors—who love God and want to serve Him.
It’s the Timothy difference.
And this is #ourtimothystory.
