Last weekend, Kate Buikema (Class of 2019) competed in the collegiate Mock Trial national championship held in Chicago. Kate, who attends Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee, showcased her exceptional skills. Despite narrowly missing qualification for the national championship by only half a point, Kate's team from Rhodes won all their trials.

Most notable, they  defeated the eventual national champions, the University of Virginia, head-to-head. Virginia scored higher than Rhodes in their other trials, which earned them a spot in the championship round. Kate, who expertly handled an opening statement, a direct examination, and a cross-examination, missed being named All-American by just one vote. During her time at Timothy, Kate was a standout member of the Mock Trial team, leading the Trojans to numerous tournament victories.
