Planning to eLearn?

A reminder if you plan to eLearn, please email Kendra Lee (lee@timothychristian.com) and Jackie Seremak (seremak@timothychristian.com). Mrs. Seremak will need to update the attendance accordingly.  Mrs. Lee will share information with the MS teachers so they may prepare accordingly.

New to eLearning

If you are new to eLearning, please take time to review the eLearning information to make sure you are ready for Monday.  Prior to Monday, log in to Canvas as this is where you will find the materials for your courses.

In addition, you may want to review previous Remote Learning Weekly Updates found on the website under Middle School - eLearning.  There you will find helpful tips on using Canvas and turning in assignments through Canvas.

Tech Support

You may now send tech issues to eHelp@timothychristian.com. This does include if there are technical issues on the teacher’s end and they may not know.  The email goes to multiple individuals who will be able to respond quickly.  If you don’t hear back quickly, please call the MS Main Office @ 630.833.4617

 Canvas Tips

Parents - did you know you can be an Observer on your student’s canvas account.  To learn more, read the Canvas Parent Observer Instructions.

Materials Pick up

Mrs. Lee will email you in the middle of the week to let you know if there are any courses that have materials you need for next week’s lesson. Most materials are available on Canvas.  If you prefer to print yourself, you are welcome to do so.

Pick up is on Friday from 8:00 am - 3:15 pm.  If you are unable to make that time, please let Mrs. Lee know to make alternate arrangements.  Please let Mrs. Seremak know if you would like the materials sent home with another student.

Coat Drive

Our middle school students are collecting winter coats November 30-December 4, 2020. We are working with two local organizations, “One Warm Coat” and “Feed My Sheep”, to help local families in need get the warm coats, hats, and gloves that they will need this winter. Students can bring used or new hats, coats, and gloves to school any day during our collection week. Our goal is to gather 100 coats per grade level as well as however many hats and gloves we can. Please make sure what is sent in is in good repair, but used is ok! All sizes are welcome and appreciated!

8th Grade Final Exam Options

As mentioned in a previous remote learning email, we have final exams for Algebra, Honors Algebra, and Spanish.  The Algebra and Honors Algebra final will be given on Wednesday, Dec. 16 at 8:30 am and the Spanish Final will be given on Thursday, Dec. 17 at 8:30 am.

There are two options for completing the final - come to campus during the exam time or take over Google meets during the exam time.

We prefer if you would come to campus to take the final in the Brandsma Room at 8:30 am.  We know this option is not possible for all students. Therefore, the other option for the final is that a parent will pick up the final(s) on Tuesday.  It will be sealed in an envelope.  The day of the final students will attend the Google Meet class.  Mrs. Lee will proctor the exam.  Students will have cameras on and open the exam envelope when directed to do so.  During the exam if a student has a question, Mrs. Lee will move them to a Google Breakout room with the teacher to answer questions.  Following the exam, students will place the exam in another envelope provided and seal it.  Then the exam will be returned to the school by Thursday, Dec. 17 at 4:00 pm.

Please complete the form to identify where you will take the final exam by Wednesday, December 9. This will help us to plan accordingly. (Note: This form only needs to be completed by those who will be eLearning the week of December 14.)

Please let Mrs. Hoffman, Mr. Meyer, or Mrs. Lee know if you have any questions.

Remote Learner Support

Mrs. Hopek is here to provide additional support.  Please reach out to Mrs. Hopek to schedule learning sessions as needed. Mrs. Hopek can also help with organization, navigating Canvas, and daily planning.

Yearbook Photos

Including our e-learners in the 2020-21 yearbook is a priority, and we need your help in gathering pictures.   Please continue reading to learn how you can provide pictures for our yearbook.

Take pictures of your students.   Ideas include:

Students working at their home work station/desk/room

Students doing their PE class.    What are they doing to stay active?

Students playing their instruments or singing.

Pictures of your students' artwork, kitchen creations, science experiments, etc.

You may share your photos two ways:

1) Email them to Shelly Cochrane directly at cochrane@timothychristian.    Place the name and grade of the student(s) in the subject line.

2) Download them at www.hjeshare.com.   Our yearbook company has created a wonderful resource to upload your photos directly to our yearbook program.   The process is easy, but it does have a number of steps to it.  The website clearly guides you.  Our school code is:  TimothyGSMS    (Caps matter!)

If you have any questions, please email Mrs. Cochrane (cochrane@timothychristian).   Whether your students have been elearning for one week or since the first day of school, we want their photos of schooling from home!

 Thank you for your help.
