ELearning Survey

Thank you for those that completed the eLearning survey.  We are appreciative of the feedback.  Please see the linked Google document for a breakdown of the information.

Below under the Canvas Tips, please review information regarding Navigating Canvas, ways in which teachers have developed consistency between Canvas Courses, and using the Calendar.

Mrs. Lee would like to continue to support the eLearners with turning in assignments.  If you are having difficulty turning in assignments, please reach out to Mrs. Lee and she will schedule a time to work with you.

Materials Pick up

I will email you middle of the week to let you know if there are any courses that have materials you need for next week’s lesson. Most materials are available on Canvas.  If you prefer to print yourself, you are welcome to do so.

Pick up is on Friday from 8:00 am - 3:15 pm.  If you are unable to make that time, please let Mrs. Lee know to make alternate arrangements.  Please let Mrs. Seremak know if you would like the materials sent home with another student.

Bible Study with Mr. Davidson

Don’t miss out on Bible Study with Mr. Davidson on Fridays during Homebase (12:09-12:39). You have a Google Invite in your Google Calendar.

Canvas Tips and Tricks

As we continue to learn new things about Canvas and troubleshoot challenges, I learn more and more.  Below are a few tips I would like to share with you to Navigate Canvas and your calendar.

Navigating Courses

Information from the survey told us that it is difficult to navigate Canvas as teachers may put things on Canvas differently.  So here are a few tips for navigating all of our Canvas courses and ways the teachers have created consistency between courses.

  1. Agenda - The agenda for the week is found on each Course’s home page. This is where you should start.  Sometimes there are links to specific assignments and other times it directs you to the modules.

  2. Modules - After you review the agenda, click on the module on the left hand side, Modules.  The materials you need will be located in the module listed first.  Your teachers have provided as most recent.

  3. Homework vs. Classwork - Teachers are marking homework with a HW.  Homework will also have a due date so it shows up on the calendar. If it is classwork and you do not need to complete for homework, the teacher will not have a due date on that assignment so it does not appear on your calendar as an assignment.

  4. Calendar - There are two calendars.  There is the overview calendar on your dashboard which includes all of your courses.  Review the right hand side where all the courses are listed.  The calendar can only show information from 10 courses at a time.  If any of the squares next to the course name are grayed out, this means it is not showing on your main calendar.  If you would like that course to show, click on the gray square.  It will select it.  Review courses from last quarter you no longer have and click on that box to gray out.  You no longer need that information to show up. See Screenshot below.

There is also a Course Specific Calendar.  If you need to know what to do for a specific course, click on the Canvas Course. On the right hand side, it says View Course Calendar.  When you select this, it will only show you assignments specific to that course.  See Screenshot below.

Assignment Notebook -  Though you do have access to the Calendar in Canvas, we encourage you at the end of each class to complete your assignment notebook. At the end of each class period, your teacher will review with you the following to record in your assignment notebook.

  1. Do you have homework?  Where do you find it?  Write it down.

  2. Is there classwork that does need to be completed for homework? Where do you find it? Write it down.

  3. Do you have a quiz or test coming up?  Write it down in your assignment notebook.

By writing this information down, you will have the information quickly accessible at the end of the day and not spend as much time determining what you need to do and where to find it.

Assignment Submission

There was feedback that submitting assignments at times can still be confusing.  Please reach out to Mrs. Lee and she can walk you through the process.
