Timothy Christian High School recently won the 2019 National Blue Ribbon Schools award. Timothy was only 1 of 50 non-public schools in the nation to win this prestigious award! The US Department of Education awards Blue Ribbons to Exemplary High Performing schools that serve as a model for other schools. Our teachers, students, and parents worked hard for this recognition.

We are excited for your student to be part of the Timothy Christian High School community next year. We know your student has been well-prepared by our middle school teachers to succeed in high school.

On Monday, October 21, Timothy will host our annual High School Showcase Night. We would like to personally invite you and your 8th grader to the High School Showcase Night starting at 7:00 pm in the Huizenga Auditorium. Even if you are familiar with our high school, attendance at this informative night is important and will highlight our biblically-based core classes, electives, and extracurriculars that will prepare your child for college and beyond.

You will learn more about our Multi Tiered System of Support (MTSS). You may be familiar with MTSS since our grade school and middle school students already receive individually-customized, small group instruction. This program continues in high school — our customized education ensures that each student can work on whatever is next for them, whether that’s intervention or enrichment.

The Showcase Night will also give you and your student the opportunity to meet our high school teachers and visit classrooms. Not only are our teachers highly qualified — 68% of our faculty hold Master’s degrees — but they understand that students perform better when they feel connected. It’s this relationship-driven approach that sets us apart from other high schools. Throughout the evening, you’ll get to visit classrooms and learn more about such classes as:

Inspiring Leadership: Business

Our business and marketing classes give students the opportunity to gain real-world experience, develop leadership, and enhance their communication skills through competitive events and career development conferences through DECA and VEI. Our DECA chapter has been nationally recognized. Both DECA and VEI earned spots at the state competition last year.

Beyond the Numbers: Mathematics

Mr. Tim Wierenga, who holds a Masters Degree in Mathematics from Northwestern University, is a member of our math department. He is also the coach of the high school Robotics team, which placed 16th at the World Competition last year.

Seeking Wisdom: Physics

Mr. Carlton Rink holds a Masters Degree in physics. His classroom motto is “God’s presence everywhere.” Mr. Rink doesn’t just see himself as a teacher, but as a role model and mentor, both academically and in the application of his faith in the scientific arena and the community at large. He also coaches the State Champion Scholastic Bowl team.

Winter Interim: Renew

Because there are some things you just can’t teach in a classroom. Renew is a seven day program for our high school students in January. Students can choose to travel, serve, experience an internship, or take a unique class during the 7-day Renew program. In the past, we’ve had students serve in Honduras and intern at ABC7 News. Our Renew program is just one more way we help students become well-rounded and ready for whatever may be next for them after graduation.

 Extracurriculars:

We believe extracurricular activities enhance the high school experience. You’ll have an opportunity to visit our extracurricular fair and talk with current students. This fair will give your 8th graders a taste of the best of what’s to come. From sports to Mock Trial, to drama club, there’s a place for every student. In fact, over 50% of our high school students participate in two or more activities.

In February, 8th graders will be invited to attend High School Registration night where you’ll receive important information about how to register for classes, different curriculum paths your student can take, and information about honors classes, dual-enrollment classes, and Advanced Placement® offerings. The Timothy’s High School Showcase will help you and your student learn about the next steps to register for high school, so they can continue their personal, academic, and spiritual growth at Timothy Christian Schools.

Sincerely,

Dr. Tim Hoeksema

Elementary and Middle School Principal
