A Strong Start for the Sixth-Grade Girls Basketball Team

The 6th grade girls basketball season has tipped off with an exciting start, and I am grateful to God for the strong connections and growth already taking place on and off the court. New to coaching this year, my son Peter and I have had the joy of working with 16 sixth-grade girls who have come together with great energy, unity, and purpose.

The team opened the season at 4–0, earning two wins each against Benjamin Middle School and Wheaton Christian. While we are thankful for a strong start, what has stood out most is the girls’ willingness to play for one another. With an emphasis on team defense, effort, and boxing out, their hard work has shown in the rebounds secured and the layups made in each game.

Through God-given talents and teamwork, the girls have already scored 153 offensive points this season, with nearly every player contributing to the scoreboard. I am thankful for the opportunity to help them compete, grow in sportsmanship, and encourage one another, and I look forward to seeing how God continues to work through this team as the season unfolds.
