Tennis duo Tommy King and Sammy Valeo slugged it out at the State Tournament playing 6 matches in 2 days in 90 degree heat and sun.
The pair went 4-2 and finished in the top 12 at State. The last match was against Champaign Centennial and Timothy won the first set 6-4 and then lost 1-6 and were up 6-4 in the super tiebreaker, but a couple of tough breaks and Timothy lost 10-6 in the tiebreak. In the earlier matches Timothy beat Triad 6-2 6-0 and Prairie Ridge 6-2 3-6 10-7. Both their losses in the tourney were in three sets! This is the highest finish for Timothy boys tennis players in the State Tournament. They were awarded 2nd Team All-State recognition.
