Boat Captains & Boat Owners Needed for Bass Fishing Team

Coach Todd Lindemulder

We are excited to share more information about the Timothy Christian Bass Fishing Team as we prepare for the upcoming 2026 season. Interest in the program continues to grow, and we are grateful for the enthusiasm and support from our students and families.

The mission of the Timothy Christian Bass Fishing Team is to provide students with the opportunity to compete in high school bass fishing while developing skills in leadership, responsibility, sportsmanship, and stewardship of God’s creation. Our goal is to create a safe, Christ-centered environment where students can grow as anglers and as young men and women.

As the team continues to expand, we are seeking support from parents and the Timothy Christian community in two key areas: Boat Captains and Boat Owners.

Boat Captains
Boat captains play a critical role in the success of the high school bass fishing program. Each competition boat must have an approved adult captain whose primary responsibility is the safety of all participants and the mentorship of student anglers.

Key responsibilities and expectations include:

  • Operating the boat whenever the outboard motor is in use (only the designated captain or boat owner may drive)
  • Ensuring all safety rules and tournament regulations are followed
  • Creating a positive, Christian environment focused on learning, sportsmanship, and confidence on the water
  • Supporting youth development by teaching proper fish care, boating safety, and competitive bass fishing principles

Boat captains may provide instruction and guidance; however, captains are not permitted to fish in any capacity during tournaments. This includes casting, retrieving, tying lures, handling gear, or routinely netting fish. The program is intentionally structured to give student anglers hands-on experience, decision-making responsibility, and independence as they prepare for state and national-level competition.

Captains may assist with items such as lure selection, boat positioning, and operation of the trolling motor when necessary, and these moments should be used as teaching opportunities.

All boat captains must be approved by the school board prior to participation.

Boat Owners
We are currently seeking at least two additional fishing boats for the upcoming season to accommodate the number of students interested in joining the team.

Boats must include:

  • A gas (outboard) motor
  • A trolling motor
  • A live well
  • Fishing electronics
  • Be current on registration and capable of passing a Coast Guard inspection

Boat owners may support the program in several ways:

  • Allowing the team to use their boat for tournaments
  • Serving as the driver on their boat
  • Serving as the boat captain on their boat

Your willingness to support the team in this way directly impacts our ability to provide students with a safe, meaningful, and competitive experience.

If you are interested in serving as a boat captain, offering the use of a boat, or would like more information, please reach out to Coach Todd Lindemulder  (lindemulder@timothychristian.com). We would be happy to discuss expectations, requirements, and next steps.
