Venus Williams once said: “I guess rumors are more exciting than the truth.”

At the risk of redundancy, I’d like to reiterate that our health team works day and night, weekdays and weekends to uphold the Timothy Health Plan. I have spent many early mornings, late evenings, and weekends on the phone or texting or emailing with members of our health team. They are demonstrating an extraordinary level of proficiency, and we are blessed to have their guidance and leadership.

Please remember: there are plenty of reasons why a student or a staff member might not be at Timothy on any given day. Perhaps they have been around someone with symptoms, or perhaps have had symptoms themselves. Maybe they are waiting on test results of a close contact, or maybe they are waiting on test results for themselves. Maybe they are simply taking a day off or attending a wedding or a funeral. You get the picture! There are plenty of reasons why a student or staff member could be absent from school — no different than any other year.

But you can always count on this: We have been following, and will continue to follow, all quarantine guidelines for close contacts, and all isolation protocols for positive cases. In other words, no one will return to school before they meet these requirements. Timothy will notify the relevant building on campus of any and all positive COVID-19 cases for both staff and students (including remote learners). Moreover, Timothy will always notify close contacts for contact-tracing where necessary as prescribed by the IDPH and CDC. We will never take short-cuts or skip steps. At the time of this writing, we have had 7 positive cases in 8 weeks with over 1,200 people (staff and students) on our campus every weekday. Of our 7 cases, there has been no student-to-student or student-to-staff transmission. Additionally, we have recorded 162 negative test results.

Of course, we anticipate more cases. Of course, we expect more disruptions. But, of course, this is what we’ve planned for! Thank you for your dedication to the Timothy Health Plan. When there are disruptions, it is because of the strictest adherence to our plan.

Press on, Timothy.
