Matt Davidson

In our 6th consecutive year of enrollment growth, we are welcoming many new families to the Timothy community again. We have 227 new students in our school this year — either in person/on campus or remote. We are approaching record enrollment!

In my 11th year at Timothy, I’m finding that it takes me longer each year to describe the make-up of our school. It’s no longer a quick-and-easy response. Rather it is a remarkably complex answer. We have so many differences at Timothy Christian Schools.

  • over 200 churches and over 60 cities/towns/villages represented at Timothy
  • various socio-economic backgrounds
  • SOX fans and Cubs fans (Go SOX!)
  • multitude of occupations
  • Democrats and Republicans
  • generational families and entirely new families
  • worshippers with hymns and liturgy while others prefer to raise their hands and shout
  • remote learners and in-person learners
  • racial and ethnic diversity
  • those who want to start a football program and those who don’t
  • we all wear masks at school...but we have those who appreciate them and those who hate them
  • homes with plenty of family help and homes with single moms and dads winning all alone
  • parents who attended private and public schools during their school years
  • and the list goes on...I’ve only scratched the surface

As I network with other Christian school leaders across America, it is extremely uncommon to find any other school with so many differences. Some might assume that we should be arguing and fighting all the time. In so many places, differences often lead to discord. But not here at Timothy.

There is a bond in this community that is truly hard to find anywhere else. There is a sense of togetherness that could serve as a model for the world. There are powerful forces working against us, but we stand united as the Timothy community in the name of Jesus.

If you are new to Timothy this year, I welcome you! You’re at the right place. Thank you for bringing your differences to our community. We are stronger with you than we were without you. For those of you who have been with Timothy for a while, [although I realize it’s more difficult than in a normal year] please find a way this week to introduce yourself to a new Timothy family.  Welcome them to the team and to the adventure of Timothy Christian Schools.
