Girls Track Dominates 13-Team Field to Capture Walther Christian Meet Championship

In a commanding performance from start to finish, the Timothy Christian Girls Track Team rose above a competitive 13-team field to claim the Walther Christian Meet Championship. Showcasing their versatility, depth, and standout individual efforts, the team placed in every event.

Highlights could be found across every event, from the field events to distance races to sprints. Maddie Rudman and Mia VanHekken took first and second in the shot put, Lyla Plaisier and Ella Potoshnick took first and second in the 3200, and Kiara Holmes won both the 100m and 200m dashes. I am not sure if I have ever coached such a versatile team.

At the same time, the team’s depth helped secure the meet championship with a total of 194 points to second-place DePaul Prep’s 113. There are only 17 events, so to score 194 points, Timothy averaged more than one scorer per event.

I am very proud of these girls. They have been working hard all season, and so many of them are seeing the fruit of that labor. Being able to win this meet on our home track will obviously be a highlight of the season. That being said, we still have more to do. We are looking forward to a highly competitive field this Friday at Chicago Christian, and then our Conference Championship the following week.
