Last week Wednesday, Timothy’s 7-time State Champion Mock Trial team showed that this year’s virtual format would not stop this all-star team from making headlines. Out of 20 strong teams from around the state, Timothy’s varsity Mock Trial team won second place overall, and seniors Joshua Pae and Kate Buikema received Outstanding Attorney awards for their trials.
Joshua received his award for being the best attorney in Timothy’s trial against Highland Park High School, and Team Captain Kate garnered hers for being the best attorney in the trial against Hinsdale Central High School. These two joined their teammates Lauren Ellens, Carter Bulthuis, David Sianghio, Leah Tornow, Jonathan Pae, and Kaitlyn Radoha in defeating every high school in the league except for Niles West, who the team says they hope to go head-to-head with in the coming tournaments and at the state competition held March 12-14. With just two weeks to go until the seminal state championship, chances are you’ll find this dedicated team hard at work preparing for trial every day after school and on Saturday morning. In the words of senior Carter Bulthuis, "We've got to keep our foot on the gas! We've got to keep working!"
