Our A-team placed 1st at the Northwest Suburban Bar Association in Rolling Meadows. The first trial was against Glenbard South, who was the defense, our plaintiff opener Paul Kalapala started off the trial strong. From there Kate Buikema, directing attorney, and Carter Bulthuis, witness, gave an awesome direct and defended against some tough objections. Alex Zeilstra, directing attorney, and Calvin Groenewold, witness, wrapped up the plaintiff’s side with our final direct. Now it was time for the defense to state their case where both Josh and Jonathan Pae made great objections and cross examined Glenbard’s witnesses. To end the trial Kate Buikema delivered an impressive closing argument and then rebutted any statements the defense made. Our next trial was against Glenbrook South, plaintiff, and ourselves as the defense. David Sianghio gave a powerful opening, and really got the jury on his side. Now that we were on defense, it meant Glenbrook South’s witnesses spoke first. While the plaintiff witnesses gave their testimony the Pae brothers once again made great objects, many ruling in our favor. After that Calvin Veldman gave his testimony, being directed by Josh Pae. Next up was Adam VanProoyen as a witness, and David Sianghio directing, they both performed amazingly. Finally it was time for Kate’s closing argument. She spoke confidently, she stated our case and she picked apart theirs. After all the trials it was time to hear the scores, they announced 3rd place, then 2nd, and just as we started thinking we didn’t win, we heard, “In first place Timothy Christian!”
