We’ve officially completed the first quarter. Pause for a moment...take a deep breath and humbly whisper “Thank you, Lord.”
After the abrupt last day of in-person school last spring on March 13th, the Timothy community has rallied to successfully wrap up quarter one of the historic 2020-2021 school year. 25% is not a bad number. Usually a quarter tank of gas will get you home, a quarter cup of sugar is just about right for most recipes of chocolate chip cookies, and a quarter pounder still hits the spot on the way home from a kid’s ballgame.
But when it comes to a school calendar, one quarter is not the goal. And when it comes to this particular school year, providing one quarter of in-person/on campus school is certainly short of the goal. Let’s keep up the great work! We remain confident in our health plan...and I remain confident in the commitment of the Timothy community to uphold it. As we approach fall break and soon the holidays, please remain vigilant. Stick to the plan. For now, this remains the path to achieving sustained success.
Here at Timothy, parents will continue to have the final authority on the methods of schooling for their own children. Mom and Dad will decide on what is best for their children — in-person or remote. It remains our fervent conviction to offer both. Fundamentally, parental choice is one of the key pillars of the Christian school movement. Many other schools, especially Christian schools, across the nation have adopted this stance as well.
Your prayers and support are important and greatly appreciated. As you hear of varying and ever-changing decisions among area schools, let’s show our support for those school communities as well. Please avoid comparisons or creating any form of “us v. them.” The youth of this country, regardless of where or how they attend school, are worthy of our hopes and dreams. Let’s root for all of them! Better yet, let’s pray for them.
Press on, Timothy.
