For over a decade, Timothy Christian Schools has offered an exceptional extracurricular robotics program, providing students from late elementary through high school with opportunities to build, program, and compete with robots. High school teams have consistently demonstrated excellence, competing at the state, national, and even international levels.
This year’s high school team, 4454C, known as "Crash and Burn," is comprised of juniors Ryan Bossenga, Aubrey Steelman, and Bella Bouman. All three have been dedicated participants in the Robotics program for years. Notably, Aubrey and Bella were part of the 8th grade team that won the State Championship by defeating a team led by Ryan—a testament to the program’s depth of talent. This past weekend, the trio showcased their skills at the Illini Cornfield Clash held at the University of Illinois. After an impressive 7-match winning streak, they ultimately fell in the semifinals to the tournament’s eventual champion.
Timothy's middle school Robotics program is thriving as well, with four teams competing this season. At their first tournament of the year, held at the College of Lake County, team 4454X, "X-Ray," advanced to the semifinals in a competitive blended event featuring both high school and middle school teams.
Looking ahead, the high school robotics program is gearing up for the Northeast Wisconsin Showdown, a prestigious VEX Signature Event. From January 30–31, three Timothy Christian teams will travel to Green Bay, Wisconsin, to compete in the iconic atrium at Lambeau Field. The event will bring together 72 teams from across the country, promising a thrilling showcase of innovation and collaboration.
Timothy Christian Schools continues to equip students with cutting-edge skills through programs like robotics. Best of luck to our teams as they continue to represent Timothy with determination and grit!
