Amy Bode

A very generous donor utilized the Invest in Kids Act to designate $840,000 to Timothy Christian Schools, which will be used to award need-based scholarships through Empower Illinois. This is an amazing opportunity for many of our families (current and future)—you could qualify for a significant scholarship! Because of the amount of tuition assistance available through these scholarships, those who are eligible must apply to this before you submit any application on FACTS for assistance through The Timothy Fund. Please mark your calendars, so you can take advantage of this opportunity! The application is a two-part process and scholarships are awarded on a first come first serve basis. On Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at 6:30 pm you must visit EmpowerIllinois.org to access the reservation forms and begin your application. You cannot submit your reservation form until 7 pm. Your timestamp will be recorded after you submit your reservation. Your timestamp matters and may impact your chances of receiving a scholarship. You will be notified by email when the complete application is available on January 15. You can complete this step whenever you are able, but Empower Illinois encourages you to submit your application before January 25 to increase your chances at receiving a scholarship. You can read more FAQ’s about the application process here

Do You Qualify?
This scholarship program is 100% need-based with clearly defined income criteria -- you can find a helpful income chart here. Before April 1, students who meet one of the following criteria will be in Category1.

  • Are members of a household whose previous year’s total annual income does not exceed 185% of the federal poverty level;
  • Reside within a focus district;
  • Received a scholarship from a scholarship granting organization during the previous school year; or
  • Are siblings of students currently receiving a scholarship.

Confusing? Still not sure? If you wonder if you might qualify for a scholarship, please reach out to the Timothy business office to get your questions answered. The scholarship amount could be significant, so it's worth a few minutes of your time. All communications with the business office will remain strictly confidential.
