IMPORTANT INFORMATION FROM THE HEALTH TEAM

Team Timothy,

As Region 8 and DuPage County implement resurgence mitigation measures, some have raised questions as to whether Timothy will remain in-person. The short answer is a resounding, YES! As a matter of fact, we were informed yesterday that 67% of the schools in DuPage County are either in-person or following a hybrid model.

The DuPage County Health Department (DCHD) and DuPage County Regional Office of Education (ROE) has stated local health departments should work with school officials to determine what’s in the best judgement and discretion of each individual school. Timothy remains committed to providing parents with a choice — in-person or e-learning — to decide what's best for their family. Timothy has no intention to deviate from its current path.

October break is here, and Thanksgiving and Christmas are quickly approaching, which means that some families will be traveling. Currently, the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) is not requiring quarantine after traveling domestically or internationally, but is recommending it. https://www.dph.illinois.gov/covid19/travel-safety-guidance

Upon returning home, all household members should monitor for symptoms for 14 days. If anyone experiences symptoms, your student(s) will need to stay home and not attend school until an alternative diagnosis or negative COVID-19 result is received and submitted for the person experiencing symptoms.

Thank you for your support!
Press on, Timothy!

A MESSAGE FROM JUSTIN HORNE REGARDING CYBER SAFETY

Dear Parents,

As I mentioned several weeks ago, we will be having a presenter from CyberSafety Consulting coming on October 29th to speak with our 7th and 8th graders about online safety and digital citizenship. That evening, she will be providing a presentation exclusively to Timothy's parents on the same topic. All P-12 parents are welcome to sign up. Please complete the short registration form on the My Timothy webpage so we can share the zoom link with you.

The presentation will be from 7pm-8pm, October 29th. Here is a little more information about our presenter: Liz Repking is the mother of 3 children, ranging in age from high school to college. She has spent much of her career working as a technical consultant, developing and delivering a variety of training for clients.

Many years ago, Liz became acutely aware of the dangers the Internet posed to children like her own. While parents recognize these dangers, they are uncomfortable and even intimidated by the depth and breadth of the technology their children use. Liz created Cyber Safety Consulting with the goal of educating parents, children, and school educators on the safe, savvy, and ethical use of the digital world. She is also the founder of the CASE program, Cyber Awareness & Safety Education, which is implemented in middle schools nationwide.

Liz has been seen on WGN News, Fox Morning Show, NBC News, The Morning Blend and has contributed to many national news outlets and articles.

HIGH SCHOOL ASSESSMENT DAY: THURSDAY, OCTOBER 29

High School Assessment Day, Thursday, October 29.

This is a reminder that on Thursday, October 29, students in grades 8-11 will be taking either the PSAT 8/9 or the PSAT/NMSQT. Testing will be done in the morning, and the afternoon will consist of chapel and other enrichment events for students, including a college panel, iPad training, and Canvas Training.
