Jen Carreon, Class of 2026

Meet Izzy Zimmerman. She’s a junior and hopes to be a veterinarian technician. During Renew she interned at Lombard Animal Hospital. During Izzy’s week of being a vet tech, she did everything from inpatient work to holding down an anxious dog during a checkup. After the internship, there was no question about it, she wanted to become a veterinary tech. “This internship has helped so much with my idea of whether I want to be a vet tech or not. I think it’s a great and unique opportunity that Timothy has given us to be able to do that,” Izzy said. After taking a biology class at Timothy with Mrs. Bemister, she knew she wanted to pursue science. She described the class’ curriculum as “fascinating.” Izzy is part of the National Honor Society, Young Life, and plays volleyball. The future looks bright for her.

Addy Vogelzang is a junior who discovered her love of marketing through two internships during Renew. She landed her dream marketing internships at Fortress Consulting in downtown Chicago and the MX Group in Oak Brook. She was  able to split her time for even more marketing experience. Fortress is owned by Timothy alumni, Joel Mathew (Class of 2000). While experiencing the hustle and bustle of a bigtime job in the city, Addy designed websites, advertisements, and marketing content for social media. She even researched clients’ companies and suggested new marketing strategies! At the MX Group, she sat in on company meetings and learned about writing advertisements. “I feel like I could definitely see myself doing something in marketing,” Addy said. “It was a good experience for me.” Addy first took an interest in business during an Introduction to Business course that she took her freshman year. She said she loved the leadership opportunities in the class. With college on the horizon, this internship sealed the deal on what Addy is majoring in. Marketing! Pepperdine University in California is one of her top choices, and she’s looking forward to pursuing a career in marketing.

Junior Clarissa Chen hopes to be a physician. During Renew, Clarissa had the opportunity to step into the shoes of a doctor. Her weeklong internship shadowing the healthcare team at Northwestern Hospital in Winfield included daily rotations of all the different departments. Clarissa’s passion for helping patients was all the more enhanced when she stepped into the emergency room on the first day of her internship. She was able to meet patients, listen to diagnoses, and learn how treatment plans work. Each day included something different for Clarissa. She shadowed in the emergency room, pediatrics, cardiology, and post-surgery recovery departments. After her internship, Clarissa is set on going to medical school. She is well on her way with outstanding grades. Plus, she is on the tennis team, president of the National Spanish Honor Society, an officer in the National Honor Society, a member of DECA, ACES (which won state this year), orchestra, and is part of the chapel worship team.
