Go Beyond the Graduation Timelines

Jen Carreon '25

Go Beyond is Timothy’s motto—and I can confidently say Timothy lives it out every single day. So, how did Timothy equip me to Go Beyond?

Go Beyond the typical high school graduation timeline.

Go Beyond DECA regionals.

Go Beyond cross country sectionals.

And most importantly, Go Beyond the tradition of my faith into a deep, personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Here’s how it all happened.

When I started high school, I had no idea what career path I wanted to pursue. I didn’t know what subjects would excite me or what extracurriculars I’d thrive in. But I did know one thing: I was in a place that would not only help me grow—but also push me outside my comfort zone.

During my freshman year at Timothy, I joined the Mock Trial team. Mr. Roelofs and Mrs. Stein helped me overcome one of my biggest fears—public speaking. That skill would go on to serve me in DECA and nearly every area of my life. I also discovered my favorite subject: Honors Biology with Mrs. Mirra. Her class was challenging and rigorous but also engaging—with interactive labs, lively discussions, and, of course, dissections. That’s where I realized medicine was the field for me.

Joining DECA completely changed my high school experience. It helped me grow as a leader and opened doors I never imagined.

My sophomore year, I joined the cross country team. I fell in love with the discipline and reward of running. That season became a turning point for me: I qualified for the state competition. Running became something I truly loved.

That same fall, I discovered DECA—an organization that prepares students for careers in marketing, entrepreneurship, business management, and more. Joining DECA completely changed my high school experience. It helped me grow as a leader and opened doors I never imagined. That year, my partner Kayla Holley (Class of 2024) and I placed 3rd in the state in Business Law and Ethics and qualified for the international competition in California, where we received a silver medal. This year, as a senior, my partner Josiah Bhatia and I placed 3rd in the state in Entrepreneurship Team Decision Making and competed at Internationals in Orlando.

Now, as I prepare to graduate a year early—thanks to Timothy’s summer school options and incredible counselors—I’m excited for what’s next. I’ve committed to Montana State University, where I’ll be studying Cell Biology and Neuroscience on the Pre-Med track. My dream is to become a pediatric surgeon.

As exciting as that future is, my biggest goal will always be to live a life that boldly reflects my love for Jesus Christ. Without Timothy—its chapels, its Biblical worldview, and its Christ-centered community—I wouldn’t have the foundation I do today.

I’m deeply grateful to the staff at Timothy for showing me what it looks like to live for the Lord.
