Outstanding Leadership Award: Randy Huisman

In the early morning hours before the start of school, the Timothy weight room is full of students working out. These students are making a big commitment to get up early for a workout before school. They are on a mission to get bigger, faster, stronger; and they hold each other accountable. Above all, they carry on with this daily routine to grow stronger in their faith. 

Randy Huisman (Class of 1990) has led these morning workouts for a decade! You’ve heard the phrase, “blood, sweat, and tears,” to describe someone’s commitment. Well, in Randy’s case, you can place a special emphasis on “sweat” with this program at Timothy. The group works hard! These students look up to Randy. He pushes them, he challenges them, he demands their best and their most…and every student in the group knows that he loves them. It’s not uncommon for alumni to stop by during a break from college and jump back into a workout routine with the group. The lessons that our students are learning with Randy each morning will help them to win at life.

If you stopped by the weight room toward the end of any morning workout, you would find the students standing or sitting around Randy as he shares life lessons from the Bible and prays with them. Randy will often have someone else give the devotion, including the students. He has coordinated and led this before-school workout program with remarkable consistency over the years.

Randy is an alum, volunteer, previous Timothy parent, previous Timothy board member, and one of our school’s biggest fans. Congratulations to Randy Huisman for the 2024-2025 Outstanding Leadership Award! Thank you for investing in our youth – all for the glory of God.
