Congratulations to Timothy’s girls track team for winning the Chicagoland Christian Conference Championship! The girls pushed through a cold evening at Chicago Christian to win both the varsity and junior varsity levels.
Highlights started early as Mia Van Hekken (So.) and Maddie Rudman (Fr.) took first and broke conference records in the discus and shot put, respectively. These underclassmen were quickly joined by Addison Butler (So.) and Lyla Plaisier (Fr.), as Addison broke the record in the 800m and Lyla set new records in both the 1600m and 3200m. But it wasn’t all underclassmen — Kiara Holmes (Sr.) won the 100m and 200m dashes, breaking her own conference record in the 200m.

Of course, winning a track meet requires a full team effort, and that has not been an issue for this deeply talented group. Congratulations to all of our All-Conference athletes: Kiara Holmes, Elizabeth Alex, Eden Moore, Leah Friend, Anneliese Hopp, Lily Dishman, Bella Hackert, Avery Tazelaar, Addison Butler, Mia Van Hekken, Maddie Turner, Angelina Molina, Lyla Plaisier, Maddie Rudman, and Peyton Dorsey!
The team finished with 140.5 points, ahead of second-place Wheaton Academy’s 122, while the junior varsity squad finished with 101 points to Wheaton Academy’s 71. The nine-team Chicagoland Christian Conference held its third conference championship Wednesday evening.
“I could not be more proud of our team’s effort tonight”, said coach Kevin Hackert. “Winning a Conference Championship was a goal set from the beginning of the year, and despite battling a few injuries and a team shared sickness, they really came out to do their best.”
Next week, Timothy will compete at the 2A Sectional level, a move up resulting from a success multiplier. The competition will be fierce, as they face some great teams, but they are ready to take on the new challenge.
