State Qualifiers Lead Boys Tennis into 2026 Season

Coach Rick McLean

The Timothy Christian boys tennis team returns eight players from its 2025 roster, including state qualifiers Elliot Tandy and Hudson Tseng. Tandy, the team captain, is aiming for his fourth consecutive appearance at the state tournament after placing in the top 16 in doubles last season. Tseng, who finished 5th in boys singles, looks to build on an outstanding sophomore campaign. Both will serve as key leaders for the 2026 team.

The Trojans will also rely on continued growth from Merritt Stolzenbach, Michael Grandolfo, Luke McCaulley, Maddox Preitauer, Danny Alcendra, and Evan Styczen. New team members Micah Bashinger, Haoren Han, and Hunter Maxwell add valuable depth and skill to the roster.

Timothy faces a challenging regular-season schedule, with key non-conference matchups against Nazareth Academy, St. Francis, DePaul Prep, Marmion, Waubonsie Valley, Fenwick, and Aurora Central Catholic. The team’s goal is to continue improving throughout the season and be prepared to compete for conference and sectional titles—and earn a return to the state tournament.

The Trojans opened the season with a 9–1 win over Proviso West, followed by a tough loss—and valuable learning experience—against DePaul Prep. Timothy Christian currently stands at 1–1, with upcoming matches this week against Proviso East, Nazareth Academy, and Lisle High School.
