Timothy students made their way through the winding, narrow streets of an impoverished neighborhood in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, balancing Tubs of Love—heavy plastic containers filled to the brim with canned goods, eggs, and other basic necessities.
At one stop, senior Maggie Oldenburger stepped inside a home constructed of cinder blocks, with a tarp stretched overhead for a roof—offering little protection from the relentless Honduran sun. The family lived in a single room. There was no running water and only one bed, shared by the entire family.
“It was really eye-opening,” Maggie shared. “We weren’t just dropping something off and leaving. We were invited into their home. We prayed together. That meant something.”

There is no classroom lecture, movie, or reading assignment that could ever replicate a transformative moment like this. This is why Renew exists.
Renew is a seven-day experience each January when Timothy high school students have the opportunity to travel abroad on service trips. The trip to Honduras carries a long history of Timothy students and alumni serving alongside All God’s Children.
Director of Advancement Bob Venhousen (Class of 1979) and current grandparent Al Hereema (Class of 1969) have been serving in Honduras for decades. Today, that same faithfulness continues as they lead Renew trips—building trust, deepening relationships, and walking alongside the families they have served for decades.

Every year, Timothy students travel across the globe on service trips this year, learning firsthand what it means to live out their faith and serve the world. “It made me realize that God uses us in so many ways,” Maggie said. “We’re called to be servants—even when it’s uncomfortable.”
At Timothy Christian Schools, our mission is to raise up the next generation of courageous leaders who do everything for the glory of God.
Will you partner with us as we continue to form servant leaders who fully live out their purpose in the world for Christ?
