I happened to notice the other day that I have nearly 5,000 emails in my Project IMPACT file, which does not include any emails that I have sent. I recently came across an email that I sent to a trusted friend on July 22, 2015—just as the concept was starting to gain some traction. Here is a portion of that email: In my weaker moments, I sometimes wonder if we are in over our heads.
I confess that I have experienced fear, doubt, and worry at various times throughout the project. On occasion they have perched heavily on my shoulders. As the leader of our school, I’m probably not supposed to share that with you. I should probably be stronger and better than that. However, it is important that I vulnerably share this so that it is loud-and-clear that God has once again demonstrated His power in our weakness. (2 Corinthians 12:9) There is no compelling evidence that this project could have been accomplished apart from God—absolutely no other explanation would hold up under scrutiny.
The new junior high school is nearly ready for our students to move in, and the high school competition arena is on a similar schedule. Project IMPACT has been a great success! This project actually started as a blurry vision a few years ago, and it is exciting to see this dream become a reality. You might not realize this, but one of the earliest planning sessions for Project IMPACT was with a very small group of people in January of 2015. As you know, construction started in the summer of 2016 with a groundbreaking ceremony on June 27. And since then it has been fast and furious.
Project IMPACT will finish a few weeks ahead of schedule, approximately $250K(+/-) under budget, and the $16MM cost has been fully funded through the contributions of our community—allowing our school to continue to operate without any debt. God has moved in the hearts of His people here at Timothy Christian Schools to give generously. And this facility is truly second to none. It will provide us with an ever greater platform to train, equip, and inspire this generation to make a difference in the world for Jesus Christ. Extraordinary!
I would like to personally invite you to join me in celebrating at our Grand Opening. We will gather outside the new building for a short program at 6:00 pm on Thursday, September 14. Following the program, we will have a ceremonial ribbon-cutting and then the doors will be open for YOU. We will also have a photo booth inside for you to get a family or group photo of “cutting the ribbon” together. The Open House will last until 8:00 pm, and we will provide cake and punch for refreshments. Bring the whole family and invite your friends! I hope to have a very large gathering. As a community, we will give thanks to God at this celebration. Let’s do our part to spread the news. God deserves a sell-out crowd!
Classes and athletics will officially start in the new building on Monday, September 18—and then the planning for the next adventures will gain momentum. Stay tuned as God continues to do more than we can even ask or imagine. Glory to God through all generations forever and ever. (Ephesians 3:20, 21)
Very Truly Yours for Christian Education,
