Renew: Go Beyond Boundaries; Live Courageously
Amy Bode

When high school students return from Christmas break, it’s anything but a typical school day. Some students board flights or start a local service project, while other students report to internships, and still others take on-campus courses like Robots, Rockets & Drones. It’s all part of Timothy’s 7-day Renew program. But Renew is so much more than just an opportunity to travel or take an interesting class — it’s transformative! At its very core, Renew is another way to help develop courageous leaders who fully live out their purpose in the world for Christ.

“Renew makes an immense impact on a student’s worldview.” Dr. Brad Mitchell, High School Principal

On-Campus Classes

There’s a long list of innovative classes to choose from, such as Lead Like a Boss and Tolkien & the Power of the Rings. In addition to Timothy’s own excellence-driven teachers, Timothy invites leaders from the community to teach a course. These classes not only give students the opportunity to delve deeper into topics that aren’t covered during the typical semester (like Pathway to CEO), but also gives students another unique perspective from guest instructors who are often alumni, friends of Timothy, local pastors, and even current parents.

Local Service Projects

You don’t have to leave the country — or even DuPage County — to serve. In 2023 there were four local service projects to choose from: Habitat for Humanity, Walking Alongside Those With Special Needs, Serve Chicagoland, and Lampstand Ministries. The goal: to help develop life-long servant leaders and be the hands and feet of Christ.

Internships

In 2023, 29 students participated in an internship. The hands-on experience of an internship often helps students choose a major in college and influences their future career goals.

International & Out-of-State Service Trips

These trips are often transformative for students. In 2023, 96 students served on trips. These trips are just one more way to help students become courageous leaders who do everything for the glory of God!

Building Community

No matter if a student chooses to travel, intern, or take an on-campus course, Renew is all about building a Christ-centered community. Students from all grade levels work beside each other, learn together, and serve together. They also pray and do devotions together. When this happens, it fosters genuine relationships and a Christ-centered community.

We’re on a mission here at Timothy Christian Schools. And, ultimately, Renew is just another way to develop life-long learners and servant leaders who fully live out their purpose in the world for Christ.
