Four Generation Timothy Family Takes Home 2018 Golf Scramble Title
Amy Bode

It’s expected that athletes will brave whatever weather meets them on a game day. So, it was only appropriate that over 160 supporters of Timothy’s athletic program would face the elements to participate in the Annual Golf Scramble fundraiser on a stormy and unimaginably frigid August day!

Golfers set the tone for a year of perseverance, athletic accomplishment, friendly competition, honorable sportsmanship, and good old-fashioned, God-honoring fun. The day started more wet than bright, but definitely early with a 7 am tee time for the first flight. The second flight followed in the afternoon, with a brief intermission for burgers and chicken in the Seven Bridges Golf Clubhouse, and a putting contest on the practice green.

The highlight of the event, unfortunately, wasn’t a hole-in-one on the “Haggerty GMC/Buick Hole’n One” contest hole. But, one family will still get lifelong bragging rights at all Timothy events. The Zeilstra foursome — Van, Marcus, Tom and Dave — had a great game with a score of 60 and secured the title of overall winners for the 2018 Golf Scramble. While they didn’t get to take home a shiny new car, they did bring home full hearts and great memories!

Overall, thanks to dozens of sponsors, parents, and friends of Timothy, the school raised over $150,000 — setting a new record for Timothy’s athletic program. With the gifts raised through this event, the program was able to purchase new athletic sheds for storage, uniforms, and equipment for multiple athletic teams and important safety enhancements to stadium seating.

A special thank you to our many volunteers and to our Golf Committee: Mike Alles, Jami Brighty, Curt Carstensen, Steve DeBoer, Jim Marshall, Rob Orange, Chad Tameling and Chris Valdez.

The 2019 Golf Scramble will again be held at the beautiful Seven Bridges Golf Course in Woodridge, Illinois on September 13, 2019.
